THE State will be reluctant to send Irish troops to participate in the UN stabilisation force in Lebanon if its mandate includes disarming Hezbollah.

Under the UN resolution which effected yesterday’s ceasefire, the existing UN force in south Lebanon will be expanded to 15,000.

Its principle task, according to the resolution, will be to monitor the ceasefire.
