‘Seized cash should go to drug rehab’

FINE GAEL yesterday called for cash seized from criminals to be ring-fenced for drug rehabilitation.

The party front bench spokesman Fergus O’Dowd said that while €89 million had been collected from criminals, some heroin addicts were still waiting up to 19 months for treatment.

“It is only fair that the individuals most devastated by drug dealers should be the first to benefit from these confiscated monies,” said Mr O’Dowd.
