GARDAÍ are investigating allegations of vote-rigging in Tipperary during the last local elections, where up to 300 people could have cast falsified votes.

The supplement register of people legally added to the voting register in Tipperary North before polling shows that the Thurles Electoral Area had the highest number of additional voters 1,133.

The allegations were made by Thurles Mayor, Labour's John Kenehan, who said he had received several complaints on polling day of alleged personation a criminal act where a person assumes the identity of another person to vote.
