Human trafficking case against solicitor adjourned

Oliatan Ilori is charged with one count of trying to traffic 14 foreign nationals from Mauritius into Ireland on October 27 last year.

Detective Garda John McCormack yesterday told the Dublin District Court that a file on the case was ready to go to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Gda McCormack, attached to the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB), applied for a further remand of eight weeks to allow for directions from the DPP on the matter.

Solicitor for Mr Ilori, who is on bail, consented to the remand.

The defendant, dressed in a black pin-stripped suit, stood during yesterday’s brief hearing.

Mr Ilori, with an address at Oak Drive, Blessington, Co Wicklow, is charged under section two of the Illegal Immigration Trafficking Act, 2000. The 36-year-old father of four has Irish citizenship and is married to an Irish national.
