Four more road deaths brings toll this year to 70
A man in his 20s was killed in the early hours of yesterday morning when the car in which he was a back seat passenger collided with another vehicle at Ballmahill, Castlemahon in Co Limerick.
The young man, who hasn’t yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other occupants of the car sustained minor injuries.
However, the sole occupant of the second car was not injured.
In Co Meath, a 30-year-old man died following a two-car collision at Proudstown near Navan at 1.45am yesterday.
He has been named as Paul Finnegan of Lobinstown, Navan.
The man driving the second car was also taken to hospital with injuries.
On Saturday, a 24-year-old man died in Dalkey, Co Dublin when the black Ford Fiesta in which he was a passenger crashed into a wall at Ulverton Road.
He was pronounced dead at St Vincent’s Hospital while the driver was also treated for injuries.
The dead man has been named as Daniel Kenny from Beachside Drive, Riverchapel, Co Wexford.
Meanwhile, on Friday evening, a 76-year-old pedestrian died when she was struck by an articulated lorry on Main Street, Abbeyleix, Co Laois.
Gardaí named her as Cáit Bergin from Cool Park, Ballacolla, Co Laois.
