Colin conquers home town as Jolie woos fans
Flanked by Hollywood icons, Angelina Jolie and Val Kilmer, Colin Farrell was in high spirits for the gala Irish screening of Alexander. As he brushed off suggestions that negative reactions to the movie in the States had taken its toll.
“We got murdered in America but they’re not that interested in European history.
“I’m sad about the way it was received there but it’s only film, no one’s dead,” said the Dublin star.
Dressed in a black collarless Valentino suit, and sporting a mustache, Farrell elicited roars of approval from the massive crowd outside the Savoy as he spent almost half an hour signing autographs alongside Jolie and Kilmer on the red carpet.
Sporting a winter white Versace coat, worn over a gold sequin dress, a stunning Angelina Jolie didn’t disappoint as she stopped to chat with fans of all ages.
The glamorous Hollywood icon explained that she had earlier been given a guided tour of Dublin by Farrell and that her son Maddox had accompanied her on the trip.
“We were given the guided tour earlier today by Colin which was great. My son’s here too but there’s too many cameras and craziness for him to be at the premiere with me.”
Jolie, who also put in an appearance at the post premiere party in Vicars Street, played down any romantic involvement between herself and Farrell. However, she didn’t rule out the possibility of being wooed by some other Irish hunk on her short visit.
“I love Irish men, somebody might be in with a chance tonight,” she smiled.
Meanwhile, fellow co-star Val Kilmer was more than happy to divulge the many benefits he enjoyed in filming the epic.
“I got to throw Angelina around the bedroom and drink all day,” he chuckled.
He also confessed that he had been given a personal tour of Colin’s Dublin pad.
“It’s about 8 x 4 and it’s the greatest movie star home I’ve ever seen.”
Last night’s gala premiere, which helped raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Fund at Our Lady’s Hospital, was also attended by the movie’s director, Oliver Stone, actor John Kavanagh, singer Samantha Mumba and a host of other stars.
