Physics poses few problems for students

WHILE most students are now enjoying well-earned lie ins and exams are history, those who chose technical, science and mathematical subjects still have their noses stuck in books.

Physics poses few problems for students

Among those feeling hard done by yesterday was physics student, Joseph Mullally. The 18 year-old still has applied maths, Spanish and chemistry to go but most of his friends finished several days ago.

“Physics was so, so sweet,” the St Kieran’s College student said.

“It was a lot easier than the mock. If you knew your particle physics in particular, you’d breeze through the paper.

“I was lucky, I didn’t pay much attention to what had been tipped. There were no major surprises. The three experiment questions were standard and the range of short questions was fine. One or two were tricky. But the rest were fine. The mechanics were a bit tricky,” said Joseph.

James Hickey also gave the paper the thumbs up.

“I expected it to be a lot harder, I’m happy enough. I have three more exams to go so I’m just getting down to exams now, even though most others are finished,” he said.

Brendan Kelleher wasn’t quite so happy with the higher level paper and admitted he found parts of it tough.

“The sixth question on mechanics was particularly tough and I was a bit stuck for choice.

“Bar the question on electrons, there were tricky bits to all the other questions,” he said.
