Put the kettle on and help a hospice
More accustomed to spraying cold water to dampen things down, the men and women of Dublin Fire Brigade have given a lift to Ireland’s biggest coffee morning.
Organisers of the event, taking place on Thursday, September 16, hope to raise €2 million for the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF).
“Over €1.5m was raised for this purpose last year and we are calling on people all over Ireland to help us break the €2m mark this year,” said IHF chief executive Eugene Murray.
Now in its 11th year, the fund raising event raises money for local hospices.
Thousands of people organise coffee mornings - and collect €2 for each cup of coffee consumed.
“Coffee Morning is the biggest fund raising initiative for the hospice movement in Ireland and with all money raised locally staying locally, participants can help to promote the ethos of care within their own communities,” said Mr Murray.
Thousands of people benefit from the work carried out by hospice each year. The movement was founded on the principle that no one who is terminally ill should have to suffer pain.
