Hunt for crime spree gang

GARDAÍ are searching for a gang of up to six masked men who went on a crime spree in Co Cork and Co Tipperary and tied up a security man before trying to rob a meat plant’s safe.

The gang, who gardaí suspect are from the Limerick region, broke into Dawn Meats plant in Charleville shortly before 1.30am yesterday. They threatened a security guard and tied him up before trying to break into the safe.

The gang were unable to open the safe. The security guard, who is in his 50s, freed himself and alerted the gardaí.
