Security forces in Northern Ireland were on full alert today after a dissident republican bomb attack was thwarted in Belfast.

Scores of people have been evacuated from Belfast's city centre following a claim to a local radio station purportedly from the Continuity IRA that they left a bomb in the city's Bedford Street.
