Missing links in the family chain

I AM attempting to trace a family living in Cork in the early 20th century. In 1901, in St Luke’s, Emily Keays married a widower by the name of William Smye.

They had two children, Arthur Cecil in 1902, and Dorothy Elizabeth in 1904. William died in 1906.

Emily Keays Smye died in September 1925, in Cork city. She was survived by both her children. At the time of her death she was residing at 31 Grand Parade. I believe this was then a small hotel. I have never been able to find any other record of Arthur and Dorothy and would like to know if they married or left descendants.

Emily herself is a puzzle. She was the ‘adopted’ daughter of Jane Keays, widow of Christopher Keays. Emily was born circa 1878 and census records indicate that her birthplace was Co Dublin.

She states her father was William. I’ve never found a record of her birth in the Keays family, but suspect she was a Keays at birth and was cared for by Jane as a family member.

I’d be grateful to hear from anyone who recognises these names. I plan on being in Ireland in April and could then follow up on any information I receive. I have lots of information on the Keays family and would be willing to share it with anyone who might be interested.
