The half-hearted apology by Gerry Adams to members of the late Detective Garda Gerry McCabe’s family, regarding Martin Ferris collecting McCabe’s killers from Castlerea Prison spoke volumes for its sincerity when he added ‘if they had been offended’.

For Kerry North West TD Martin Ferris to describe claims by Cork East TD Tom Barry as “bordering on racist”, strikes me as hypocrisy in the extreme (Irish Examiner, November 5).
