McCabe case: judicial system undermined

I READ that people were surprised when one of the gang that killed Det Garda Jerry McCabe was released from prison recently.

Equally, people were horrified to learn that Garda McCabe’s wife was not informed of the pending release in advance.

How could that surprise or horrify anyone when this Government was contemplating releasing all the gang last year to achieve their glory from the peace agreement.

Were it not for the outcry generated by Garda McCabe’s wife and her friends, they would possibly have done so.

I have said in the past it will only be when a few politicians are targeted by these villains that we will see people serving a just sentence for their actions.

One would have to wonder is there any necessity for a judicial system in this country when politicians and other unelected, faceless officials appear to be deciding the length of time criminals and terrorists should serve in prison.
