Galway’s powerful showing in the first period of extra-time dumped the holders, Sligo, out of the Connacht Junior Championship in last night’s quarter-final at Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry.

CORNER-FORWARD Michael Martin fired two excellent goals as Galway wrapped up their FBD League campaign with a win over Sligo at Tuam Stadium yesterday.

WING-BACK Johnny Davey's goal midway through the second-half and three perfect frees from substitute Colm McGee set up Sligo for a second successive FBD Connacht League win when they deservedly overcame IT Sligo by six points, 1-9 to 0-6, at a windy Quigabar.

EXCELLENT attacking contributions from Colm McGee and James Hynes, scorers of 0-6 and 1-2 respectively, powered Sligo to a comfortable victory over London in a one-sided FBD Connacht League Section One tie at Kent Park.
