OLIVER Cromwell was no friend of this country, to say the least.

AS the Leaving Cert students of the boys’ secondary school in which I teach gathered for their graduation Mass last Thursday evening, I congratulated the young man who was to deliver the valedictory address on his stylish suit, collar and tie, comparing his professional look to that of a dynamic bank manager.

I’M afraid John O’Driscoll (Letters, November 28) is incorrect.
