The Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams is calling on anyone with information about the remains of those killed and secretly buried by the IRA almost 30 years ago to bring that information forward.

TEN years after the IRA handed over a list of sites where gardaí would find the remains of the so-called “disappeared”, a new site — not on the original list — has been identified.

Gardaí will resume digging bogland close to the border with the north as part of a new bid to find the remains of a teenager kidnapped and murdered by the IRA 28 years ago.

The opening stages of a new bid to find the body of another of the “disappeared” – people who vanished after being abducted and murdered by the IRA up to 30 years ago – proved unproductive in a bogland area of the Co Monaghan today.

Gardaí are today continuing an excavation operation in a bid to find the body of a man thought to have been killed by the IRA more than 20 years ago.
