The Courts Service says 3,845 people were disqualified from driving due to these offences in 2018

Less than 2,000 motorists were tested for drug-driving since the legislation was introduced in April 2017, new figures show.

A total of 22 motorists have tested positive for driving under the influence of drugs so far this year in Cork, with cannabis and cocaine the most common drugs detected.

Over 52,000 drug driving tests were carried out between April and December last year, it has emerged.

Cannabis users who have not taken the drug for a week or more could be prosecuted under proposed new drug-driving legislation, the Transport Minister said today.
