Members of the European Parliament are to debate the result of the Nice Treaty Referendum.

EU Foreign Ministers meeting in Luxembourg say they regret the decision of the Irish people in last Thurday’s referendum on the Nice Treaty.

Ireland remains totally committed to the European Union despite rejecting the Treaty of Nice, Foreign Minister Brian Cowen insisted today.

Minister Brian Cowen will meet with other EU foreign ministers later today to explain why Ireland rejected the Nice Treaty.
