Cowen to face grilling

Minister Brian Cowen will meet with other EU foreign ministers later today to explain why Ireland rejected the Nice Treaty.

However, Mr Cowen is not expected to outline any solution to the problem now facing the EU with Ireland's failure to ratify the treaty.

He is expected to reaffirm Ireland's commitment to enlargement and full membership of the EU.
