What A Difference A Day Makes: Georgie Durcan on falling pregnant after fertility treatment

Georgie Durcan: "I just had this knowing that I had to feel safe, it had to feel the right place, the right time. From when we walked in, the way the doctor spoke and listened to me, her compassion, humanness, empathy."
Sean and I married in May 2009. I got pregnant in October – we’d just told everybody, and then I miscarried in January at 13 weeks.
Later that year we moved to Vancouver. I assumed I’d get pregnant again – everyone said ‘it’s a good sign that you got pregnant’. But I didn’t. I went for all the tests and checks. I was told pregnancy was highly unlikely, that I was in premature menopause – I was 30.
