Roisin Waters, the daughter of the late Sineád O’Connor, paid tribute to her mother with a touching rendition of her hit, ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.
The 28-year-old singer performed the cover in honour of her mother during a tribute concert for O’Connor and her friend and fellow legendary Irish musician, Shane MacGowan.
In footage captured by an audience member, Waters takes to the stage barefoot and in a floral dress. The singer is met with cheers from the crowd after the first line of the song and appears to receive a standing ovation after the rendition of her mother’s 1990 hit.
Waters is O’Connor’s second-eldest child.
Comments under the video were filled with praise for the singer, with many commenting on her resemblance to her late mother.
The concert, which took place at Carnegie Hall this week, also saw performances from Cat Power, Glen Hansard, former Pogues member Cáit O’Riordan and many more.
Hansard and O’Riordan performed MacGowan’s famous 'Fairytale of New York'.
The event was described as a “St Paddy’s celebration of Sinéad O’Connor and Shane MacGowan”.
Sinéad O’Connor died in July 2023 in London aged 56 while former The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan passed away on November 30 aged 65.
The pair were close friends and in 1995, they teamed up to record their duet, 'Haunted'.
