Francis and John Brennan named 'hospitality heroes' at Georgina Campbell Awards

Francis & John Brennan - Park Hotel, Kenmare were named winners of the 'HOSPITALITY HERO' AWARD 2023
The winners of the 2023 Georgina Campbell Irish Food and Hospitality Awards have been announced, including Ireland's best restaurant, bar and hotel.
Now running for 25 years, the highly-coveted awards are selected by anonymous inspectors and aim to honour Ireland's standard-bearers in food and hospitality.
This year's batch of winners includes Darina Allen and brother Rory O’Connell of Ballymaloe Cookery School, a vintage tea experience in Dublin, a Sligo family hotel and a special honour for The Brennan brothers of Park Hotel, Kenmare.
The awards this year put a special focus on genuine hospitality, consistency, innovation and good value. Special tribute was paid to some of the giants of Irish food and hospitality — as well as the brave newcomers, who continue to delight with inspiring new business.
It may seem like no time at all to many of its longtime fans, but the internationally renowned Ballymaloe Cookery school founded by Darina Allen and her brother Rory O'Connell has been in business since 1983.

At this year's awards, the founders received the ‘movers and shakers’ accolade with judges pointing out that “it is an apt time to pay tribute to the immense contribution that Ballymaloe Cookery School has made, and continue to make, to the development of a sustainable food culture in Ireland".
Five-star Hotel of the Year is Ballyfin Demesne in County Laois, while Clandeboye Lodge Hotel in County Down got the award for Four-star Hotel of the Year.
Family run, Casey’s of Baltimore in Cork scooped the prize for Three-star Hotel of the Year.
Neighbourhood Restaurant in Naas, Co Kildare won Restaurant of the Year at this year’s awards, receiving praise for its “beautifully warm and welcoming restaurant” with judges describing it as “a class act”.
Meanwhile, Dunmore House Hotel in Clonakilty, County Cork which has been welcoming guests since 1948, won best Memorable Experience for its “delicious home produce” that’s “cooked with finesse but allowed to be itself".
Brothers Francis and John Brennan of Park Hotel in Kenmare were also honoured with the Hospitality Hero award for their contribution to the industry, and in particular “having been an industry benchmark for over four decades" and "a training ground for tiptop service”.
