It can be difficult to find time to attend networking sessions and industry events as a parent of young children.

Parene wants to solve this problem. It’s a networking hub exclusively for parents and offers peer-to-peer support, regular sessions with experts from different industries, weekly accountability meetings and more.

Many of its events and services are online, but there are also in-person events, including Babycino, a child-friendly networking event taking place in Cork, Galway, and Dublin this week.

Tomorrow at 2 Connell Street, (off Lapps Quay) in Cork from 10am to 11.30am, children can play with toys while their mums and dads can take advantage of the opportunity to network with other working parents and to hear from this month’s featured expert, neurolinguistic coach and mentor Anna Machura.

The Galway event takes place on May 30, and the Dublin event on May 31. Tickets to all events cost €20 and include one month’s free membership of the Parents online community.

Traditional learning

Mo Chuid Rincí Gaelacha is the perfect book for parents who dream of raising the next generation of Irish dancers and musicians. Written by Emer Ní Scolaí and colourfully illustrated by Anne O’Hara, it’s a push-button board book designed for children from age one.

It’s small in size, making it ideal for little hands to turn the pages and press the button, allowing them to listen to six jigs, reels and slides recorded by the Irish music band Sult.

It’s a great way of introducing little ones to traditional Irish music.
