Dr Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin has given birth to a baby girl — and is saluting the Domino Scheme and the community midwives of the National Maternity Hospital who helped deliver her baby at home.
The science broadcaster and academic from Mayo, who chairs the national forum on biodiversity loss, delivered her baby girl at home on Monday evening.
The former Rose of Tralee noted that "our two boys are delighted to be big brothers".
She described it as "such a fabulous experience — the whole Domino team are absolutely magic", and she posted a link on X to the Community Midwifery Service at the National Maternity Hospital.

Dr Ní Shúilleabháin who worked at CERN in Geneva has a degree in theoretical physics. She was crowned the 47th Rose of Tralee in August 2005.
Last month she urged people to vote yes/yes in the referendum on two separate amendments to our constitution — the Family Amendment and the Care Amendment.
