MOST of us know what it’s like to be stuck in a rut. It’s something that happens to us all at some point in our lives. The question is: what can we do to pull ourselves out of it?

It starts by recognising our situation. “The key word is ‘stuck’,” says Sinéad Brady, a career and counselling psychologist and the author of Total Reset: Quit Living to Work and Start Working to Live. “That’s exactly how we feel, as if we have no sense of agency.”
