The Irish beauty scene is thriving.

While big beauty brands scramble to become sustainable, locally sourced and, indeed, innovative Irish beauty fans are finding that many smaller companies are doing all this on our doorstep.

Here’s our pick of the best.

Doctrine Divinity Cleansing Balm (RRP €42.00)

This plant-based butter, which is butter by name and buttery-smooth by nature, is enriched with calming Spirulina and Yarrow extracts to go from a cushiony balm to a light oil to milk without leaving any residue.

Every inch of it is sustainable, including the blue hue.

2. Nunaïa Nourishing Radiance Serum (€79, Meaghers Pharmacy)

This multi-award-winning organic facial oil serum is so hydrating, I could wear it alone without moisturiser and still feel quenched.

At its core, it’s a superfood serum formulated with sustainable rainforest botanicals from the Peruvian Amazon and Andes Mountains.

Totally luxurious, nourishing, and fortifying.

Brow Aid owner and founder Kim O’Sullivan, of Dublin Makeup Academy, is responsible for the best brows and lashes in Ireland.

When she announced her own line, hoards flocked to buy it.

This is a particularly good product from the range: One that uses Jojoba Bergin organic oil, castor oil, and vitamins A and B.

4. Skingredients Skin Protein Anti-Ageing Retinoid Serum, (€55, skingredients.com)

Skincare fans will know, and trust, the Skin Nerd — aka Jennifer Rock.

Her latest product, Skingredients Skin Protein, is a lightweight, anti-ageing Vitamin A, C, and E serum to be used on the face, eyes, neck, and chest.

The main ingredient, retinyl palmitate (read: The fatty form of vitamin A that’s much gentler on the skin) works to maintain strong and healthy skin.

It’s an excellent product for those looking to start their retinol journey.

5. Skin Formulas Mask Exfoliator (€37, skinformulas.ie)

You may have spotted this brand out on your travels, but may I insist that you should try them before they sell out everywhere?

Skin Formulas is an excellent brand, based in Nenagh, which uses bio-active ingredients to treat the skin at a cellular level.

This extremely hydrating mask contains fruit enzymes to gently remove the build-up of dead skin cells, while adding essential antioxidants to improve general skin health.

Perfect for all skin types, including rosacea-affected skin.

6. Ground Codladh Sleep Face Balm (€38.50, groundwellbeing.com)

Few things make me happier than a multipurpose balm, and this one by Ground leaves your skin buttery soft.

This comes by way of moringa oil, which helps to soothe, repair, and regenerate sensitive or irritated skin overnight.

It also uses Roman chamomile, an organic herb with potent anti-inflammatory and relaxing effects — which aids skin repair and promotes bright complexions — while organic lavender encourages sound sleep.
