The Corrs ‘runaway’ with hit show at Live at the Marquee
Young and old were left breathless after a night of nostalgia with The Corrs at Live at the Marquee in Cork,
The four siblings churned out all their big hits in a two hour set of classics mixed with a few new tracks to keep the crowd on their toes.
For many it was a sentimental trip down memory lane with early tracks like ‘Gimme a reason’ and ‘Forgiven not forgotten’ bringing back the 90s with a bang.
The set list featured a number of hits that had the crowd gasping in recognition at the first sound and songs such as ‘What can I do?’ and ‘Radio’ generated energetic renditions from the audience.
The four-piece band were well received throughout the night with huge cheers after each classic track as well as applause for fresh numbers thrown into the mix.
The set was minimalistic and the focus was very much on the music. The talented musicians showcased their talents throughout the night with vigorous flair and style.
The Corrs blasted through vintage tracks like ‘Runaway’, ‘Love to love you’ and ‘Only when I sleep’ making sure their hardcore fans were not disappointed.
Other well known hits on the night were ‘Queen of Hollywood’, ‘Dreams’, ‘Never really loved you anyway’ and ‘So Young’.
The songs may have gotten older, but the tracks seemed as crisp and relevant as the day they were first released.
The eclectic mix of traditional Irish music with pop and rock influences was as popular at Live at the Marquee as it was when The Corrs first burst onto the stage all those years ago.
Sharon, Caroline, Jim and Andrea got to show off their versatile and impressive musical skills playing a multitude of instruments between the four of them including drums, guitar, keyboard, violin, bodhrán and tin whistle.
It looked like a fun night for all involved with the crowd well served with the performance and a seamless set list that felt finished all too soon.
The encore included a new catchy track called ‘White Light’ and the beloved anthem ‘Breathless’.
The night ended with an instrumental performance from the four-piece that would have you wistfully pulling out your old tin whistle in an attempt to recreate the musical masterpiece.
A great night at Live at the Marquee and a stellar night of music from the band.
