Saturday's TV Tips

Check out our spolier-free guide to what to watch on TV tonight.

Saturday's TV Tips

SPORT: The Saturday Game Live (RTÉ 2, 4.15pm)

Michael Lyster is joined by Cyril Farrell, Eddie Brennan, Ger Loughnane, Liam Sheedy and Tomás Mulcahy for live coverage from Croke Park of the All Ireland Senior Hurling final replay between Kilkenny and Tipperary.

Commentary from Ger Canning and Michael Duignan, reporter: Clare McNamara. (Match begins at 5pm; extra time a possibility).

ENTERTAINMENT: Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1, 7pm)

Last night, judges got to give their verdict on six of Strictly Come Dancing’s new intake of celebrities.

But chances are even Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Darcey Bussell weren’t watching them quite as closely as the nine stars who will be taking to the floor tonight.

Will the previous evening’s performances have left them worried that the bar has been raised a little too high, or will they be thinking ’Hmm, I don’t know what I was so worried about, I can do loads better than that?’

Here’s our chance to find out as the rest of the class of 2014 get to compete. And if anything should go wrong, at least they’ll have Claudia Winkleman to take their minds off it with her quirky line in post-dance questioning backstage.

COMEDY: Uploaded (3e, 8.30pm)

Now in its sixth series, 3e’s flagship home produced show, Uploaded gathers together the best internet clips; from animal madness to fantastic fails, and everything in between.

Join Gordon Hayden as Uploaded brings you the funniest, silliest and bravest videos from the weird wide web.

FILM: End of Watch (Channel 4, 9.15pm)

LA officers Brian and Mike aren’t afraid to break a few rules as they try to clean up the streets – one of them is even filming their days on the beat for a documentary-making course he’s taking.

However, the recorded evidence might just come in handy when they uncover evidence that could bring down a drug cartel, leaving both of their lives in danger.

It may sound like any other cop buddy movie – the fact that writer/director David Ayer also has Training Day and Street Kings on his CV might add to the sense of deja vu.

However, End of Watch’s documentary-style feel manages to put a fresh spin on what could have been a very tired tale, and there are strong performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, although it’s a shame the script couldn’t find more for the always entertaining Anna Kendrick to do.

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Natalie Martinez, Anna Kendrick, David Harbour, Frank Grillo

ENTERTAINMENT: Through the Keyhole (UTV, 9.20pm)

Having Keith Lemon step into the oh-so-big shoes of one Lloyd Grossman as house detective in this 1980s and 90s favourite, and then wildly changing the whole tone of the programme was a massive risk.

But it’s certainly paid off – and while, granted, it might not be worth totally cancelling any Saturday night plans for, it’s certainly worth setting the recorder for.

As usual, Mr Lemon keeping it under wraps exactly whose wardrobes he’s going to be wading through.

However, what we can tell you is that joining DJ and presenter Dave Berry this week are Coronation Street actor Craig Charles and fellow DJ Fearne Cotton.

Keith Lemon told Digital Spy: “I think this series is better than last series because I was just finding my feet in the first one, and this one I know where they are, they’re on the end of my legs.”

With the arrival of The Viper, the hardy Bucks’ arch nemesis and Polish gangsters now involved, the lads will have to do some quick thinking if they are going to get to Poland in one piece.

FILM: Margin Call (BBC2, 10.30pm)

When a group of staff at a US investment bank are suddenly made redundant, one embittered employee gets his revenge by handing a memory stick to a junior analyst.

The younger man takes a look at the data and is shocked to realise that not only is the bank on the brink of collapse, but Wall Street’s whole way of doing business is about to implode.

As word spreads throughout the company, the top brass gather to decide what to do next.

Is It Any Good? It may be inspired by the sub-prime mortgage crisis, but you don’t need a grounding in advanced economics to be drawn into this drama.

With an outstanding ensemble cast, and a strong cast, it’s as gripping as any crime thriller.

Starring: Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Mary McDonnell, Demi Moore, Stanley Tucci

RottenTomatoes.com Rating: 88%
