Five For Your Radar: Jackass, Paul Weller, and more...
The latest Jackass film is in cinemas, while Paul Weller plays in Cork and Dublin.
West Cork Chamber Music Festival

The theme of this year’s West Cork Chamber Music Festival is ‘Music in Time of War’, exploring how composers and musicians have responded to conflict, displacement, and resilience across centuries. The festival will shine a spotlight on Ukraine, with performances from violinist Diana Tishchenko and pianist Anna Fedorova, alongside works by composer Valentin Silvestrov among others. International quartets, soloists, and ensembles will also showcase their talents.
Running throughout July, Summer at IMMA is a vibrant series of free events for all ages, featuring exhibitions, live performances, screenings, music, talks, workshops, tours, and more, spread across the gallery’s expansive grounds. To mark Dublin Pride this Saturday, there’s a zine-making workshop exploring queer expression, alongside an inclusive Irish dancing and céilí workshop. Sound baths and yoga sessions are also on offer. A real feast for the senses.

One of the most enduring and gloriously chaotic franchises of the 21st century, first hit MTV in autumn 2000. Now Johnny Knoxville and the gang are taking it out for one final ride on the silver screen. Four years on from the surprisingly touching , the new film promises more signature stupidity: Portapotty slingshots, a robot prostate exam, and getting levelled by a professional NFL player — and that’s just judging from the trailer. The cast may be older and greyer — but they’re clearly not any wiser.
Paul Weller has decades worth of albums and hits to draw from across The Jam, Style Council, and his solo career. Fans will lap up whatever the Modfather has to offer at the Marquee on Friday. Christy Moore, another true legend with a peerless back catalogue, plays on Saturday. Joxer may not have boarded the plane to the World Cup across Mexico, Canada, and the US this summer, but he’s likely to get an outing at the Marquee. Former winner James Arthur rounds out this week’s Marquee shows on Tuesday, June 30.

As Wimbledon gets into full swing next week, Netflix is giving the documentary treatment to the legendary rivalry — and enduring friendship — of Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. “That was the first real rivalry that sparked that type of interest and gave legitimacy to the women’s game,” says John McEnroe. While it’s thrilling to relive their epic battles of the 1970s and 80s, the film also movingly explores their present-day bond, as the pair support each other through cancer treatment. Get the rackets and the tissues ready.
