Online Lives: Meet Physiotherapist, Gaelic footballer and food blogger, Sinéad Delahunty

Because of Sinéad Delahunty’s love of food, she started a blog, which developed into a physical cookbook.

Sinéad is also a chartered physiotherapist and a Gaelic footballer.

“After the hospital and football field, the kitchen is usually where you will find me creating recipes for my food blog, Delalicious.com,” Sinéad said.

“I started Delalicious in February, 2015, to share my kitchen creations with the world. As a farmer’s daughter from Tipperary, the land, and the riches it delivers to our plates and lives every day, is something that I am very passionate about.

“Cooking from scratch, using wholesome, real food, is all I know and all I think anyone needs to know. Fresh and seasonal fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, herbs, spices, grains, and pulses are simple, real food ingredients that are affordable, accessible, and suitable for all.”

Sinéad shares recipes that are as affordable as they are healthy.

“I believe that cooking should never be elitist and focus on creating recipes using wholesome, real-food ingredients that anyone can afford and everyone can learn to cook with.

“As I lead a busy lifestyle, with work, sport and blogging, I have become a self-professed pro at batch cooking, making meals in minutes and cooking on a tight budget. I aim to encourage others into the kitchen, show how cooking from scratch can be sustainable, affordable, accessible and integrated into any lifestyle.”

Sinéad also shares insights into her life on Instagram, at @delaliciousfood, and connects with people around the world.

“I love how you can keep in contact with some of your best friends and share in their experiences, even though they are thousands of miles away from you,” she said.

“The ability to venture all over the world, and be inspired by other cultures, at the touch of a button, is also great. However, it doesn’t replace the wonder of travelling and experiencing things first-hand, for yourself.”

Blogging has changed her life.

“It opened up my life to lots of different possibilities that I never dreamed of happening. I wouldn’t have the opportunity to share one of my biggest passions with the world daily and develop a side of my life that I really enjoy. People wouldn’t know that I cook half as much as I do and I wouldn’t have had the chance to represent Ireland at a cooking competition or have had a cookbook published.”

Sinéad’s cookbook, Delalicious - A Full Plate For A Full Life, is now available
