'This is leadership': Peter McVerry
Tonight RTÉ aired Peter McVerry: A View From the Basement, a documentary telling the story of the Jesuit priest's 40-year fight against addiction and homelessness.
McVerry has dedicated his life to helping young homeless people and the Peter McVerry Trust vows to "open doors for homeless people".

The response on Twitter is overwhelmingly positive and many are praising McVerry's leadership in tackling the growing problem of homelessness in Ireland.
The documentary showed what life is like for many of Dublin's homeless, giving viewers a harrowing insight into life on the streets.
"Walking, walking, just walking like rats."
However, the actions of McVerry have inspired many and shown how the actions of one can save the lives of many.
The relentless dedication of McVerry is refreshing in what seems like unending media coverage of rising homeless figures and no high-impact Government action.
McVerry has caught many in his net that the state abandoned and given the people of Ireland someone to be proud of.
More of this please.
been so much talk about 1916 and the Ireland we want, meanwhile #petermcverry is busy living it. let's follow his lead.

#petermcverry an excellent film highlighting the shame our leaders dealt out to our disadvantaged children. He made a difference. A saint!

He's stuck thru it all, the decades of ongoing shit. Frightening to imagine how bad Dublin would be without #petermcverry. A Super Human.
