An Irish city got its name on the new world Monopoly board

Ah, good old fight game Monopoly - having just turned 80 years old, the creator of more family arguments than any other form of recreation is releasing a special round-the-world edition.

And an Irish city made it to its very own square.

It's Belfast.

And, in an even better turn of events, it's not even the lowest-tanked brown square (which I'll always remember was Kimmage and Crumlin on the Dublin edition).

No, instead, Belfast takes its spot on the red stretch, just after free parking - the perfect spot for an ambush. It joins other titans of world tourism like Hong Kong, Istanbul, Athens, and London.

Cities were chosen by a massive international vote in partnership with Buzzfeed, with the Belfast campaign fronted by local Inga Norvilyte

“A big thanks to everyone who voted and shared my love for this great city," she said after the announcement. "Millions of people around the world will now be playing a Monopoly board with the city of Belfast on it.”
