Marlay Park concerts facing review following record complaints

The staging of concerts at Marlay Park in Dublin is to be reviewed, following a record number of complaints this summer.

150 people contacted Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co Council about the eight nights of gigs at the venue, including the Longitude festival.

"I received, I'd say, more complaints in one year than I have over the previous 15 years," said local Fine Gael Councillor Neale Richmond.

"There were traffic concerns, there was concern over noise, [and] access to the park.

"One thing that was startling is that not one person who contacted me … actually wanted the concerts to be abandoned.

"They did think that this year there were eight nights of concerts over three weeks - it was just, probably, a bit too much."

July concerts included Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, as well as the Arctic Monkeys and the Longitude Festival.
