Four-year-old Merryn brings a smile to Keane's face
Well, here's something just fantastic: Roy Keane's day being lit up by four-year-old Merryn Lacey.
Merryn suffers from neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. Her parents are working hard to raise funds for her treatment, and enlisting the help of some high-profile new friends along the way.
Neuroblastoma is a cancer that affects the nervous system, and is one of the most common cancers in children and infants.
Merryn was diagnosed last summer with the high-risk variety of the disease. She's currently undergoing treatment at Crumlin Children's Hospital, which lasts about 18 months. But, if she has a relapse after her treatment finishes, it's likely she'll need to seek treatment elsewhere in Europe or in the US.
Her parents are establishing a charity fund in case they need to continue to support Merryn's treatment into the future. She's appeared on Ireland AM, met the Irish rugby team and Katie Taylor, and even got a good luck message from Colin Farrell.
When she's not meeting famous people, Merryn enjoys dancing, dressing up, playing with dolls, and generally being four years old.
