Midnight rush expected for Twilight DVD release
Retailers will open their doors at midnight tomorrow as Twilight fans prepare for the worldwide DVD release of the latest in the vampire saga.
The second movie in the series, 'New Moon', based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer, goes on sale in DVD format on Monday.
A number of stores will both open their doors at one minute past midnight on Monday to allow fans their earliest opportunity to buy a copy.
HMV said New Moon was its most pre-ordered DVD title ever.
British supermarket chain Asda said a survey found 68% of customers would be prepared to shop at midnight for the DVD.
Asda DVD buyer Duncan Tate said: “Twilight has become a literary phenomenon and we are expecting hoards of fans to swamp stores on Sunday evening. Customers are getting really excited so we have up weighted security and have increased store colleague hours in preparation for the midnight onslaught.”
