Ant and Dec are in talks with ITV about a new series of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’.

The TV presenters – real names Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – are reportedly determined to work on another series of the family entertainment show, despite their upcoming filming commitments.

A source said: “The boys definitely want ‘Takeaway’ to come back. It’s a really important show to them.

“Even though they’re working on a new format it wouldn’t cancel out another series of ‘Takeaway’.”

However, because they are busy with their latest project, the 33-year-old stars might not have time to work on the show until 2011.

The men are currently developing a new Sunday night show idea with the working title ‘The Show Wot We Wrote’ - which comes from a Morecombe and Wise catchphrase.

It is thought the BBC and ITV are both interested in the new programme, which will be made through their firm Gallowgate – the ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ production company.

Gallowgate suffered a major knock in 2007 when it was involved in a competition phone-line scandal. The comedy duo’s £20m (€23m) three-year ‘golden handcuffs’ deal with ITV also ends later this year.
