'Swing Vote' daft but witty and heartwarming

It being election year Stateside, this charming comedy comes at a telling time … and takes a swipe at both Republicans and Democrats with equal glee.

It also brings us Costner in one of his best performances in years, playing the happy-go-lucky, beery, layabout loser father to precocious daughter Molly (a knock-out performance from Carrol), who finds himself, thanks to a series of events started by Molly, with the single deciding vote in the Presidential race to the White House.

OK, so it’s daft – wasn’t the voting in Florida some years ago just as daft – but it’s also witty and watchable in that fuzzy, feel-good American way.
