McGregor rules out 'Trainspotting' sequel
Actor Ewan McGregor has scuppered plans to star in a sequel to cult film 'Trainspotting' - insisting he is not a fan of the book the film would be based upon.
The star was reportedly eager to set work in motion on plans for a follow-up to the 1996 movie, adapted from Scottish author Irvine Welsh's second book, 'Porno'.
However, the 'Star Wars' actor claims he would not want to appear in the film, because a big screen venture based on the follow-up book could potentially ruin the acclaimed first movie's iconic reputation.
"There has always been talk of a sequel (to 'Trainspotting') but I was disappointed with the book, 'Porno', that Irvine wrote afterwards - it was like he wrote a sequel to the movie," he said.
"I would hate to damage 'Trainspotting'. It would be awful to damage the reputation of that film."
