The Shaggy Dog is another tired try from Disney

Tim Allen has had an alarmingly patchy film career: this flea-bitten effort won’t be counted in his list of ‘All-Time Greats.’

Tim Allen has had an alarmingly patchy film career: indeed, he has arguably made only one outstanding feature, the wonderful sci-fi spoof Galaxy Quest … this flea-bitten effort won’t be counted in his list of ‘All-Time Greats.’

It’s aimed at the kiddies but even they will want to go for a walk shortly after the titles roll.

Allen plays a lawyer defending an animal rights campaigner. When a shaggy dog escapes from a testing lab and bites him the unfortunate man turns into a dog himself and must break into the lab to seek a remedy.

Downey plays a dodgy lab boss … but then the entire film is dodgy. It’s not funny, not funny at all.
