IRMA announces further crackdown on illegal downloads
The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) has announced plans to pursue a further 50 individuals and companies in relation to the illegal sharing of music over the internet.
Earlier this year, the association sent letters demanding €6,000 each from 17 people whom it accused of involvement in widespread breaches of copyright law.
It said today that 12 of these people had made settlements averaging €2,500, while it was planning to sue three more and was considering its options in relation to the other two.
IRMA claims the illegal sharing of MP3s over the internet is costing the music industry millions of euro every year.
