Documentary should be overnight success
Troy Duffy’s spectacular fall from grace is the subject of Overnight (Metrodome), one of the most enjoyable documentaries you are likely to see this year.
A struggling musician/barman with an inflated ego, Duffy strikes paydirt by writing a screenplay and landing millions from film god Harvey Weinstein, plus he’s allowed direct the film (a funny thriller called The Boondock Saints, included with this double disc), use his own band and offered the pub he’s working in.
What could go wrong?
To record his own genius, Duffy employs pals Mark Brian Smith and Tony Montana to film his rise, but Duffy loses the plot, alienates friends and foes, and everything implodes — right in front of the camera.
