The Honeymooners only mildly amuse us

Based on the l950s TV comedy series starring Jackie Gleason and Art Carney we have here a not-too-original and only mildly amusing funfest featuring a New York bus driver whose constant stream of get-rich-quick schemes and scams, involving his best friend and long-suffering wife, usually result in chaos and domestic disharmony. Not to say a lot of hard-earned money chucked down the drain.

There's not a lot this film adds to the wealth of human experience merely the thought that soon, hopefully very soon, the cinema will grow tired to rehashing old, very old, small-screen fare and seek scripts which offer something new and really entertaining.
