I'm not anti-establishment, says punk hero Johnny

Former Sex Pistol John Lydon has rubbished the belief his legendary punk band was anti-establishment.

The wild singer - formerly known as Johnny Rotten - loved the controversy the group caused, but insists he has never been against authority figures like the Queen, despite penning the line "God save the Queen/A fascist regime" in 1977.

He says: "I've never been anti-establishment. Then you become an 'us against them' kind of person. All I've ever done is try to give people a different perspective.

"For example, you've got royalists and you've got anti-royalists. I'm not saying either one's right, but hopefully we can all live together happily."
