Golfing actor required for Paxton movie
An actor who can play golf is wanted to star as legendary British golfer Harry Vardon in a film based on the best-selling book The Greatest Game Ever Played: Harry Vardon, Francis Ouimet And The Birth Of Modern Golf.
The film, which will be directed by actor Bill Paxton, will tell the true story of the 1913 U.S. Open in which Ouimet, a 20-year-old amateur, shocked the golf world by beating British champion Vardon, the most famous golfer of his time and the inventor of what is still considered the modern grip and swing.
Paxton, whose films include Titanic, Twister and Apollo 13, tells the Hollywood Reporter: “It is one of the great human-interest stories of the 20th century. It’s an underdog story, a great piece of inspirational material that has the potential to make a great motion picture.
“The idea of faith is important to me and this is a great story of faith and how it plays a great role in accomplishing our dreams.”
