Beckhams global brand deal for Fuller
Music guru Simon Fuller is planning to make the Beckham name a global brand under a new deal signed today.
The Pop Idol creator has finalised a role to guide the career of Victoria Beckham, but also look after some of husband David’s interests.
Fuller – whose firm 19 is worth around £300m (€420m) – previously managed the singer in her days as a Spice Girl.
He was dumped in 1998 after taking them to worldwide success, but this year he began working with another of the former Spices, Emma Bunton.
Fuller’s new partnership with Posh Spice Victoria involves “management and joint ventures revolving around the Beckham brand”.
He will manage all her affairs which include “taking the Beckham name across music, fashion and TV”, according to his spokesman.
The deal is worldwide and will build on recent trips she and David made to the US and the Far East.
They recently appeared at an MTV awards bash in the US to build their profile and travelled to Asia for promotional duties.
David is soon to head back to the Far East for a series of friendly games with his new club Real Madrid.
The deal with 19 had been on the cards for the past few days but both sides had kept quiet about speculation.
David’s football career and sponsorship deals will still be handled by SFX, but there have been discussions between the firm’s Tony Stephens and Jon Holmes and Fuller’s 19 Entertainment about joint ventures.
These could include David and other major sports stars.
Victoria said today: “I’m very excited to be working with Simon Fuller again. I now have the time, energy, vigour and ambition to continue to bring up my family whilst pursuing my career.
“Having stayed in touch with Simon over the years, I know there is no one better to help me achieve my dreams and I’m very much looking forward to the future.”
Fuller said: “There are so many great opportunities and exciting times ahead for Victoria and I.
“This is just the kind of multi-media challenge I love. Our plans revolve around a mix of fashion, lifestyle, music and television properties.
“With the Beckham name so renowned the world over for music, fashion and football, there are no boundaries to what we can achieve together.”
Holmes added: “We look forward to developing our relationship with Simon Fuller, a truly innovative operator in the music business.”
