Hot Branagh opens at Edinburgh

Belfast-born actor, Kenneth Branagh - throw in writer, producer and director (he's a man with many talents!) - sees his latest movie get its European Premiere at the prestige Edinburgh Film Festival from August 14-25.

The Philip Noyce-directed film, Rabbit Proof Fence, has already raised the ire of the Australian government for its controversial content.

The government claimed the film painted them as racists since it tells the true story of the removal of young Aboriginal children from their families and their placement as servants with white families in the l930s.

Branagh, having something of a golden run at the moment, plays the misguided Chief Protector of Aboriginals, who sanctioned the removals.
