Terrible Trevor was once a hairdresser

It's become increasingly hard to believe that Alex Ferns, terrible Trevor in EastEnders, ever played a gay hairdresser in another TV soap. But he did.

"When I lived in South Africa, I was in a show called Generations and the guy I played was gay but not effeminate," says Alex, who retains his Scottish accent despite spending 17 years in South Africa.

"I was born and brought up in Scotland but people who know me in South Africa reckon I sound as South African as I do Scottish."

Alex's son or daughter, however, is likely to be born and raised in England. The actor is settled here now and his actress wife Jennifer Woodburne is due to give birth to their first child on August 9.
