Liv Tyler found playing 3,000 year old elf 'weird'

Liv Tyler says she found it hard playing a 3,000-year-old character in the forthcoming Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Tyler plays elf Arwen in the film.

The first part of the trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring, is released on December 19.

Tyler said: "Arwen was 3,000 years old, which was really weird to play. How do you play someone who is 3,000 years old?"

Arwen's role in the film has been increased compared to the role played by the character in JRR Tolkien's books. Tyler says the decision was down to the film's director Peter Jackson.

"I think Peter and the writers thought there wasn't nearly enough female energy. The only female energy came from the big, black spider that kills everybody and Galadriel," she says.
