2. Garden Festival

The fourth annual Ballymaloe Garden Festival takes place today and tomorrow on the grounds of Ballymaloe House in Shanagarry, Co Cork. It will be a weekend blooming with talks, walks, workshops, demonstrations, food and fun designed to satisfy rookie and veteran gardeners alike.

Children can take part in a wood-carving workshop and enjoy rescued birds of prey brought along by Animal Magic.

3. Vintage Brides

Innishannon House Hotel and Gardens will host its Spectacular Vintage Wedding Fair tomorrow from 12pm to 5pm. Dubbed the Wedding Fair with a difference, this quirky wedding planning event will feature a hub of original, local and bespoke vendors for those looking for something a little different for their big day.

4. Down the Hatch

When there’s an ‘r’ in the month, it’s time to talk oysters and The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin will focus on all things oyster with its annual September Shelbourne Oyster Festival.

Menus blended with the best oyster selection in the country, fantastic live music, and daily events including the popular Sunday jazz brunches from 12 pm to 4pm each Sunday in September.

5. High Flyers

Tayto Park is now putting on displays with its birds of prey. The park is home to nine birds of prey including the Steller Sea Eagle, the largest and heaviest sea eagle on the planet, an American Bald Eagle and the only Verreaux’s Eagle in Ireland. Visitors can enjoy displays and talks from 12-4pm every day in the park.
