All lots were sold at the Lynes and Lynes house contents auction in Glounthaune, Co. Cork last Saturday.

At their sale in Carrigtwohill the previous week, an antique water cistern sold for €2,000 and a pair of antique garden seats made €2,050.

A set of six Cork 11-bar chairs sold for €1,050 and five large ships models, made in Cork, sold for prices from €1,050 to €2,000.


The summer exhibition at the Solomon Gallery in Dublin features painting and sculpture by artists including Orla de Bri, Margaret Egan, Eilis O’Connell, John Behan, Rachel Joynt, Comhghall Casey and Helen O’Sullivan Tyrell. It runs until August 27.


Eileen Meagher’s sunset view of Bantry Bay sold for €400 at Whyte’s online art auction last Monday.

The top lot of the auction was a classical landscape by Arthur Maderson which made €5,000. Near Mount Brandon, Co Kerry by Liam O’Neill sold for €3,400.


The collection of Dublin-born Leslie Waddington, who rose to become one of the most prestigious and influential art dealers in London, will be offered at Christie’s during Frieze Week in London in October.

The sale will feature works from his personal collection by artists including Josef Albers, Alexander Calder, Milton Avery, Agnes Martin, Francis Picabia and Jean Dubuffet.

Leslie Waddington, who died last year aged 81, was son of pioneering gallery-owner, Victor Waddington whose artists included Jack B Yeats.
